Description
Community Enterprise turns proportional reasoning into a decision-making challenge where students use mathematics to help community projects succeed.
Students compare supplier options, scale quantities, evaluate unit rates and percent changes, and work within real constraints. Instead of solving isolated problems, they must decide which mathematical option best fits the situation and explain why.
CALCULATE • COMPARE • CHOOSE • DEFEND
The game is designed to make ratios, rates, and percent meaningful by connecting each calculation to a strategic choice.
Students practice:
• ratios and proportional relationships
• unit rates
• percent and percent change
• comparing mathematical options
• scaling quantities
• interpreting numerical information
• solving multi-step problems
• defending decisions with mathematical evidence
Flexible classroom use
Community Enterprise works well for partner or team play, math centers, small-group instruction, intervention, enrichment, review, and collaborative problem solving.
Students are not simply asked, “What is the answer?” They must also determine what the answer means and what they should do with it.
