Description
Mission: Science Grade 6 gives students 68 visual, NGSS-aligned science missions designed to strengthen scientific reasoning across life, Earth, environmental, and physical science.
The cards are organized into five integrated sets so students repeatedly practice interpreting information, analyzing evidence, identifying relationships, explaining scientific ideas, and applying what they know to new situations.
ENGAGE • EXPLORE • EXPLAIN • ENGINEER • EMPOWER
Five Integrated Sets
Set A — Cells, Metabolism & Body Systems
Students examine how cells and body systems function, interact, and support living organisms.
Set B — Traits, Growth & Reproduction
Students analyze patterns of inheritance, variation, reproduction, and organism development.
Set C — Weather, Oceans & Climate Systems
Students investigate interactions among weather, oceans, atmosphere, and climate systems.
Set D — Thermal Energy, Climate Evidence & Engineering
Students use evidence about energy transfer and climate while applying scientific and engineering reasoning.
Set E — Integrated Capstone Missions
Students bring together ideas from across the grade-level system in more complex, multi-step scientific challenges.
Students practice:
• analyzing scientific evidence
• interpreting models, diagrams, graphs, and data
• identifying cause-and-effect relationships
• systems thinking
• constructing scientific explanations
• applying NGSS concepts in new contexts
• evaluating solutions and engineering ideas
• communicating reasoning clearly
Flexible Classroom Use
Mission: Science Grade 6 can be used for:
• whole-class discussion
• small-group instruction
• science centers and stations
• review and reinforcement
• formative assessment
• intervention
• enrichment
• test preparation
• collaborative problem solving
The cards are designed to move students beyond recall and toward evidence-based scientific thinking.
