Description
Compete to Lead. Cooperate to Survive.
Planet Balance is a sustainability strategy board game for Grades 4–8 in which students manage interconnected environmental systems, make difficult trade-offs, negotiate solutions, and work together to prevent planetary collapse.
Students compete to strengthen their own sector and earn leadership points, but no team can succeed if the shared planetary systems fail.
How the Game Works
Students represent six connected sectors:
- Energy
- Food
- Water
- Cities
- Nature
- Industry
Each team must pursue its own goals while responding to shared environmental pressures and changing conditions.
Players must decide when to compete, when to cooperate, when to negotiate, and when to sacrifice short-term advantage for long-term planetary stability.

Why Planet Balance Is Different
Students do not study sustainability as a list of isolated facts.
They experience how decisions in one sector affect every other part of the system.
A team may improve energy production but increase pollution. A city may expand but strain water and food systems. Industry may grow while damaging environmental health.
The game helps students discover that:
No sector succeeds when the planet fails.
Designed for Grades 4–8
Planet Balance includes flexible entry points, starter supports, and more advanced strategic options so teachers can match the game to their students’ grade level, background knowledge, and classroom time.
