OUTPOST turns Grade 8 linear functions and systems into a strategy mission where mathematics determines what happens next.
Students work through 50 visual mission cards involving five interconnected outpost systems:
ENERGY • WATER • SUPPLIES • COMMUNICATIONS • TRANSIT
Rather than completing isolated practice problems, students interpret graphs, tables, equations, and real-world situations; compare mathematical models; solve systems; and use their results to make strategic decisions.

OUTPOST progresses through three levels of mathematical thinking:
READ → COMPARE → COMMAND
Students first interpret mathematical information, then compare models and strategies, and ultimately use their mathematics to make consequential decisions for the outpost.

Flexible Classroom Use
